A) INTRODUCTION
- The reclaiming of Sub Arc Welding flux slag (SAW) has been used by large fabricators throughout the world for over 35 years.
- In exactly the same fashion that gold can be reclaimed and recycled time and again, so too can flux slag.
- During the welding process the chemical oxides become "fixed" and can never be changed. Consequently, the flux slag remains unchanged and can be recycled over and over again without any change to its chemical properties.
- The process has been approved by AWS/ASME/CSA and over the past twenty-five years TITUS has been reclaiming flux slag for a number of large and small fabricators in the US, Canada, Latin America, and Europe.

A) CRUSHED SLAG…… “ is formed during the welding process and is subsequently crushed for use as a welding flux”… “IT IS A NEW AND CHEMICALLY DIFFERENT FLUX”….”and may be classified as a welding flux…but must have the “S” designator.”
B) CLOSED LOOP CRUSHED SLAG…… “Slag generated by a fabricator …and crushed by the SAME CRUSHER ensure better control of input material by virtue of the inherent partnering of the fabricator with the crusher

We will perform the following:
- Qualify each dry batch as per ASME SFA-5.17
- Grain size analysis comparing your reclaimed flux to virgin flux.
- Moisture test
D) FREE TEST BATCH
We suggest you save 200-300 lbs of slag for a test batch which we will process FREE OF CHARGE. You will then be able to determine for yourself the weldability and cost saving of using your own reclaimed FLUX slag.
E) EQUIPMENT
TITUS uses a sophisticated modern "cage mill" (pictured above) in it's crushing/recycling operation. This machine provides a consistent and homogenous particle size with a minimum of dust. Other crushing units such as hammer mills and roll crushers generate significant dust and irregular particle size which can affect the quality of the reclaimed flux powder and thereby impact the weld itself.
F) BAGGING
TITUS packages all reclaimed flux powder in 50LB triple wall paper bags to ensure moisture does not contaminate the finished product.
